Recreating life

Janneke Vos Taxidermy

Janneke Vos

“Taxidermy is not about death, but about the beauty of life.

AvA Interior has been working with Janneke Vos since 2018.

It all started when we bought a stuffed bird from Janneke!

There was an immediate click and we ended up going home with more than planned.

The collaboration was born, Janneke now sets up the birds in compositions that we devise together, we from an artistic / aesthetic point of view and Janneke from a true-to-life point of view.

We use Janneke's work in the styling of ensembles and as a separate object to emphasize the beauty!

“Taxidermy is one of the purest forms of art.

You use a deceased animal as material, and transform it into a lifelike work of art.”

From an early age I have always been fascinated by nature.

I regularly came home with feathers, frog spawn, skulls or beautiful leaves.

Over the years, this fascination has transformed into the profession I now practice: Taxidermist.

Weird name actually, Taxidermist. Where does that come from?

The word comes from the Greek words taxi (to arrange/move) and dermis (skin).

So it literally means to order the skin.

In addition to this company, Janneke is a student at Wageningen University.

Here she is doing the master's degree in Biology!

Because she is always busy with animals and nature, this is clearly reflected in her work.

The animals are set up as true their natural life as possible.

No animals were killed for these projects.

All animals died of natural causes or were victims of traffic accidents.
